Here’s my summary:
Jesus came to reveal the Trinitarian nature of God and in Christ we see a threefold work:
As prophet, Jesus confronts us with our sin and calls us to repentance. As priest, Jesus comforts us and comes to us and saves us from our sin and gives us a new life and the power to live this new life. As king, Jesus commands us to relinquish control over every aspect of our lives so that we might be transformed.
The challenge we face is to hold these three dimensions – these three offices – of Jesus together.

Great Sermon, Great Challenge but It always has been. Like Paul of old I keep doing the things I don’t want to do. Blessings
Your new “look” of the Trading Grain website made me think that I’d accidentally clicked on a stock market page! It’s very …proactive looking. First the black mustang, now this…you’re starting to scare me;)
I remember a sermon similar to this that you gave last year. It was right as God sought me out again, calling me back, and I was convicted by that I struggle with viewing Jesus as King. I’ve felt a struggle recently in my spiritual growth, and how refreshed I was to here this talk.
Great sermon,
God bless you steve!
You remember well, Andrew.
Tonight’s sermon was shaped last year. The questions that arose after that sermon were incorporated (albeit, one year later!) in my prep and addressed. The threefold offices of Christ are a recurrent theme for me – sometimes explicit, like tonight – often implicit.
Bless you, brother!
Appreciated hearing a good reformed sermon on Sunday!
