Droopy Dog, that was great!! If I was hip, I would say “LOL” but I’m not. I tried to sign up for Twitter and failed. I have no clue what a “tweet” is.

I believe being confined to the Inspiration Channel would be a great detox for me. It would change me into something really scary! Great idea

I need a tweet consultant to help me. Somebody throw me a bone as Dr. Evil would say.

There’s a great sermon on the Mars Hill website that he gave on idolatry. He talks about a trip to India where a woman pointed out that she couldn’t stomach the idolatry in America. The part that stuck with me was he asked how many of us have our living room furniture arranged in such a way that the TV is front and center…like a shrine of some sort…ouch! Not sure what the title is but the sermon is well worth a listen.

This interview does show a maturity to Mark Driscoll I haven’t seen before, either. He was articulate and did not come off as condemning as he has in the past.

I think there’s probably more to the issue of idol worship than he touched on. Still–he did a great job, and I’m glad to see the Lord was represented with dignity and some grace.

The Indians lost me between 1972-1974 (I was about 8-9 yrs old) when they traded Craig Nettles and Chris Chambliss to the Yankees. Added to my mom having grown up on the Upper East Side (74th & Madison) and her life-long love affair with the Yankees, it was an easy – and has been a rewarding – switch.

Hmmm… Idols… like… The Yankees!?!?! If you stayed with the Indians, there would be no problem, because they’re so bad, no one could put them in the place of God. Being a Cleveland sports fan teaches us humility. We’re all praying for you! Seriously – good post.

In the past I have viewed Mark Driscoll as being a little self-impressed and immature. I have a changed perspective. This is a very well done, well-balance piece. Nightline gave Mark a better than fair shot. He was very articulate, mature and persuasive. The Mars Hill piece were also articulate. They remind me of my Year Team colleagues. Naturally, it makes me reflect on what my idols are. There are more than a few ……..
