This week’s Sports Illustrated had a sad but very interesting article entitled, “Criminal Records in College Football.” It is a reporting the findings of their six-month investigation of the 2010-2011 preseason Top 25 teams. What’d they find? Well, more than 200 players have been in trouble with the law. Of the 277 incidents almost 40 percent of the alleged crimes were serious offenses such as robbery, assault and battery, aggravated assault, domestic violence and sex offenses. Only one school of the preseason Top 25, Texas Christian, had no player with a police record.
Here’s the “top ten”:
School / Players Charged / Preseason Rank
1. Pittsburgh 22 / 16
2. Iowa 18 / 6
3. Arkansas 18 / 23
4. Boise State 16 / 3
5. Penn State 16 / 19
6. Virginia Tech 13 / 10
7. Wisconsin 9 / 11
8. Oklahoma 9 / 12
9. Florida State 9 / 25
10. Miami 8 / 15

Those thugs from Wisconsin were on the list.
Yep, I noticed. Big game today (college bball) in Columbus, #1 Ohio State vs #10 Wisconsin.
The study was biased. They need to interview more than only players who stayed at the Whitney Hotel.
