My, my, my. Spend one (very) long day at work and the Anglican world erupts. First, I find the Province 4 bishops’ letter to +Lawrence demanding answers (see previous post). And now, I come across this Anglican Ink story:
The head of the Anglican Mission in America has been threatened with ecclesiastical discipline for contumacy. Unless Bishop Chuck Murphy repents of his disobedience and apologizes for his offensive statements within seven days, the Rwanda House of Bishops will assume that he has “made a de facto choice to withdraw as primatial vicar” of the AMiA.

First, I had to look up contumacy. Wow. Reading all the way through, I find this gem by Bp Murphy’s unidentified spokesman- “It has required that we listen carefully to one another in our attempts to fully understand all of the issues involved from one another’s cultural perspectives.’
Is it just me or does that sound a whole lot like some of the drivel that comes out of the mouth of the PB? No, Bp Murphy, it’s not about cultural perspectives. It appears to be your lack of obedience to your archbishop and contempt you show to your colleagues.
