As you may know, network executives are currently making their case before the SCOTUS that they ought to be allowed to incorporate profanity and nudity in their programming. So far, it seems as if the Justices are not buying their argument. Of course, until the decision is reached we’ll not know the outcome regardless of what may or may not be the tipping of the hand.
The networks, though, press on. Next week, on ABC’s Modern Family, a toddler will will use the F-word.
Here’s a clip:
Creator Steve Levitan revealed the storyline during an ABC comedy showrunner panel at the network’s press tour presentation in Pasadena. “We had to really convince ABC,” Levitan told EW.com after the panel. “We thought it was a very natural story since, as parents, we’ve all been through this. ABC will tell you Modern Family gets away with a lot, because I think it’s all about context. We are not a sexually charged show. It has a very warm tone so people accept it more. I’m sure we’ll have some detractors.”

“It has a very warm tone so people accept it more.”….
Yes, because if there were ever a word with a “warm tone” it’s the F-bomb. I mean, just yesterday I was helping this old lady cross the street and at the end she said, “Thanks for the f-ing help.” It was such a wonderful moment.
I’ll bet Michael Moore likes that show. Could we please do the American thing and boycott the advertisers???
