I’m a visual thinker and I love these kinds of visuals:

Saw that the Diocese of South Carolina has posted an announcement regarding Rob joining our staff team. As you might expect, +Mark Lawrence continues to demonstrate his kindness and grace toward SAMP with his generous send off of Rob.
“I love Trinity, Myrtle Beach. I love our Diocese and our Bishop, Mark Lawrence,” said Sturdy. “I was not looking to leave, but when Steve (Wood, Rector of St. Andrew’s) made the offer, I had to consider it. The job description (at St. Andrew’s) touched on two things I’m passionate about – theological formation and church planting. The position will give me the opportunity to share the gospel and impact a much larger number of people in a broad level and my wife and I decided this was the best use of our gifts and talents at this time in our lives.”

One of the newer traditions at St. Andrew’s is our annual Legacy Lunch which we hold the week before Thanksgiving. The idea arose as we sought a way to both honor and thank our senior members of the parish; recongnizing that we are what we are largely because of the faith they embraced and imparted to succeding generations. Cassie Dodds (Women’s Ministry), Kurtz Smith (Men’s Ministry) and their teams do a wonderful job working the clergy to plan a special mid-day worship service and the following lunch. Today we had just about 100 folks join us for the service and lunch. One dimension that I find particularly moving is to see old friends – now separated by physical limitations rather than geography – enjoy one another in an atmosphere worship and fellowship (you can see the accumulated years roll back as they laugh and remember their lives).
One other dimension I also enjoy is the “competition” for the various door prizes given out to our most senior persons in a variety of categories. Here were some of this year’s “winners” (you had to be present to win the prize):
Rose Mushick, oldest member: 96 years old.
LeGrand & Coty Guerry, longest married couple: 60 years.
Bob Donaldson, longest tenured member at St. Andrew’s: 73 years
LeGrand & Coty Guerry, most children: 7
Beryl Beswick, member present furthest from birthplace: England
Gertrude Sassard & Kate Johnston (tie), most replacement parts: 4
It was a great day!
Thank you, Lord, for such a wonderful parish and so many faithful people!!

A moment of silence please . . . . last night I disposed of my tickets to the U2 concert in the Georgia Dome scheduled for this coming Tuesday. Muse was opening. My 16 yr old son, who was to accompany me, weeps today.

Do you ever wonder how observant people are? I do. And so, I did a little experiment. I wore the exact same pair of stone-colored dress chinos (thanks to Jos. A Bank – for anyone interested, gift cards are always welcomed by the author) for 21 consecutive days. Without being washed. Just to see who’d notice. No one noticed. Now, that probably says many things, not only about the observatory skills of the general populace, but of the relative insignificance, ref. Psalm 8, of each one of us. Anyway, 22 days later, I surrendered to the need for a pair of clean pants. So today, freshly showered and laundered I rise to meet the day.

See the orange buttons in the right column? Those designate RSS feeds. We’ve just updated the feeds in order to generate more information about this website and how it’s used. (We might also be able to add some more features for the website as well but don’t tell Steve about it . We’ll keep that between you and me.)
If you currently subscribe via RSS, you will need to update your feeds within the next 30 days.
Not sure about RSS or what to do with it? Check out this article about RSS feed. My favorite for aggregating RSS feeds is Google Reader. That way, anytime Steve posts something new or a new comment is posted, I’m notified.
