Can’t make this stuff up.  From Jenn Johnson, teaching at Bethel.  Pick up the video at the 4.40 mark.

This Sunday, Pentecost, we begin as a part of our ongoing sermon series, The Homilies for the 21st Century, a 4-week stretch on the person and work of the Holy Spirit.

In my prep I ran across some startling numbers from The Barna Institute.  Amongst those Americans who self-identify as Christians, 58% believe the Holy Spirit is “a symbol of God’s power or presence but is not a living entity.”  Another 9% are not sure what they believe.  So, 67% of American Christians are confused in their thinking, their understanding, about the person of the Holy Spirit.

Amongst those who do profess to know something of the Spirit we get the below.  Need a miracle from God? Simple. Just do the Holy Ghost Hokie Pokie*.
